Say 1000 honks is reasonable for the expected lifespan of the car--I think in my driving life I might have honked all of a dozen times. Then if you go sparingly with the noise pollution, you will have a car with higher resale value than the fellow who doesn't. Also I don't understand why car alarms have to wake up the entire street.
